Trainee Wealth Manager

Area: Johannesburg

Key responsibilities

  • Provide professional service to clients and complying with the requirements of the FAIS Act and Codes of Conduct, FICA and POCDATARA and all relevant legislation and Exchange Control procedures.
  • Assist and supporting wealth managers in a para planner role with high level queries and associated requirements including assistance in implementation of the client services model as follows:
    • Review quarterly consolidated client investment reports with wealth managers.
    • Provide quarterly investment market updates, fact sheets etc., to clients.
    • Prepare client meeting packs for wealth managers.
    • Produce minutes of meetings and action items and set up tasks for wealth managers.
    • Instruct and monitor implementation of non-advice action items.
    • Prepare proposals for clients based on Wealth Manager instructions.
    • Legal and technical monitoring – ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation including but not limited to the Income Tax Act, The Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, the Financial Markets Control Act, the Long Term Insurance Act, Administrations of Estates Act, etc.,
  • Undergo 24 months Category 2 supervision as required by the FAIS Act, prior to registration as a Category 2 representative on the GTC representative register.
  • Whilst under Category 2 representative supervision:
    • Consult directly to a portfolio of individual clients and service the portfolio in accordance with the agreed model.
    • Ongoing communication with clients on behalf of wealth managers.
    • Query resolution and problem solving assisting wealth managers.
    • Identifying and pursuing new business from existing and new clients.
    • Liaison with all internal support departments to ensure service delivery.

Skills and experience required

  • Matric
  • Appropriate 3 year degree
  • Must have passed the FSB/FAIS examination RE5 for representatives
  • Minimum of 1 years working experience in similar environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Office hours

GTC’s conventional office hours are between 08:00 and 17:00.

There will be occasions where the incumbent would need to work overtime.
